Our Journey
The Idea Takes Shape
While completing doctoral research into corporate sustainability reporting at the University of Adelaide, Upekha recognised a critical gap: organisations across the Asia-Pacific were increasingly expected to report on sustainability, yet many lacked the expertise and practical frameworks to do so credibly. The idea for Apex SI was born.
Research Meets Practice
Publishing in A-grade academic journals on sustainability accounting, the groundwork was laid to translate rigorous research into practical tools that CFOs, finance teams, and boards could actually apply — starting with the Sri Lankan market.
First Client Engagements
Apex SI began delivering sustainability strategy and disclosure engagements — helping organisations navigate GRI Standards, TCFD, and early ISSB/IFRS S2 implementation as mandatory reporting requirements began to take shape across the region.
Education Platform Launched
Recognising that consulting alone couldn't reach the scale needed, Apex SI launched its online education platform — making expert-level sustainability accounting knowledge accessible to professionals across Sri Lanka and the wider region.
Asia-Pacific Consulting Practice
With a growing network of clients and learners across Sri Lanka, Australia, and Southeast Asia, Apex SI expanded its consulting focus to serve the full Asia-Pacific market — helping organisations meet AASB S2, SGX, Bursa Malaysia, and CSE requirements.
